Crane swings into action

on 29 March 2017.

In a significant initiative to promote tourism and attract inward investment to Hungerford, the Mayor, Martin Crane OBE is 'blending resources' with the Town Council and the Town and Manor to boost the town's fortunes.martin crane hungerford At a meeting in the Townsite™ offices the Mayor outlined some of the current activity happening behind the scenes including a scheme to draw visitors from 'The Great West Way', an ambitious project to create England's premier long distance route from London to Bath roughly tracing the route of the A4 which snakes through some of the South's loveliest landscapes. Alongside these efforts will be new promotional materials put into hotels and online about Hungerford with key visitor information.

'If we can attract visitors AND business, they go together' said Crane who recognises the benefit of Townsite's unique content mix of visitor information and commercial promotion. Having been a supporter of Townsite since its inception, Crane and is looking forward to closer working ties going forward.  The Mayor is also spearheading a trade fair to be held at the John O'Gaunt School to showcase businesses and attract talent to the area. With recruitment identified as one of the challenges facing Hungerford businesses, it is key that students and local workers understand the wealth of opportunity on their doorstep rather than looking to the bigger towns. There is an enviable work/life balance to be had from working locally and some big companies who are able to offer great opportunities.

The Mayor also confirmed that negotiations are continuing in search of a new Post Office site in the town. Watch this space.
