Free trees for Hungerford?

on 25 November 2013.

To mark the start of the winter tree planting season and National Tree Week, The Woodland Trust is offering packs of trees completely free of charge to community groups, youth clubs and schools which can find a good location for a planting.

Tree packs come in small, medium and large options. The small pack contains 30 saplings for creating a small copse or short hedgerow, the 105 saplings in a medium pack could be planted in small groups of trees of as a 30m hedge 9approx) and the 420 saplings in a large pack could create a new hedge of around 120m or a block of trees in up to about an acre of land.

The only conditions are that the trees will be in a public area and have plenty of local involvement and that group doing the planting is a not for profit body.

Hungerford’s Environmental Action Team (HEAT) are the people to talk to – they will enhance any suitable planting with their own trees and will also apply for a pack for any group which has a suitable location in mind. They are at and further information can be found at or, of course, simply by contacting usat Hungerford Townsite.
