Local author success

on 20 June 2018.

Geraldine Children’s novelist Geraldine McCaughrean is a remarkable woman. Not only has she published 160 books, including the official sequel to Peter Pan, she is also one of us, a Great Shefford lady!

This week she reflects on her success at the Indie Bookshop awards and Carnegie for her latest novel When the World Ends, where she won awards for both in the Children's Category. Described as 'one of the greatest living children's authors' by The Bookseller, we are proud to celebrate this extraordinary woman’s success and her hugely important role of inspiring the next generation of readers. In a world of tablets and games, Geraldine’s books will surely provide a beacon of light to parents wanting to encourage their children to love books.

Geraldine will be celebrating her IBW win at Hungerford Bookshop on Wednesday 20th June from 4pm. There will be fizz for the grown ups and cake for all.

Hungerford Bookshop gave a statement ahead of the event “It's fantastic to have such a renowned children's writer on our doorstep, and lovely to mark her win during a week-long celebration of Independent Bookshops.”
