About us

the sun inn restaurant hungerford berkshire

With their motto, ‘Drink, Eat, Sleep’, Don and Sue Law are breathing new life into the Sun Inn on the A4 at the edge of Hungerford. With over twenty years experience of building successful pubs in Oxfordshire they came to town in July 2014 with great plans to turn the business around.

With significant investment from Greene King, the Sun Inn is undergoing extensive refurbishment and decoration with Don and Sue steadily bringing back the locals who had drifted away. They have taken out a long-term tenancy on this 19th Century pub and plan to stick around to restore confidence.

This good-humoured couple, along with their two dogs Foxy Lady and Dibley are exactly the kind of publicans to make this comfortable, welcoming pub Hungerford’s go-to place for good food, entertainment and fun.

Sunday carvery

The Sun Inn is unique in being the only pub in Hungerford to offer a full Sunday Carvery, serving four locally sourced meats and seven vegetable dishes all freshly cooked. Don and Sue plan to offer a Carvery on Wednesday lunchtimes in the New Year.

Alongside this feast there is a menu of traditional home-cooked pub grub served in generous portions as well as snacks and an extensive choice of beers and wines. There is a pool team and Sky Sports to help you while away an enjoying evening while sipping on a drink.

Bed and breakfast

For the visitor, the Sun Inn offers bed and breakfast in two refurbished comfortable en-suite rooms for the fantastic price of £60 per room per night. A full English breakfast is available for £5 extra.

Tribute nights

Don and Sue know a thing or two about pulling the punters in and have launched a programme of tribute bands to attract the crowds. Unique to Hungerford, they are offering a cabaret-style evening of dinner and entertainment and at only £10 for a full steak dinner, these events represent the cheapest night out in town. This month saw a sell-out Elvis night with plans to bring in Tina Turner, Tom Jones and Neil Diamond tribute acts in the New Year.

Other coming attractions include a Friday night steak special, free barbeque in the summer months and Chinese, Spanish and Indian theme nights planned for the New Year.

Tribute Nights

Vanci who as well as singing your favourite seventies hits, performs tribute songs to Frankie Lane and other crooners from the 50s and 60s. This unique evening is just the latest in a series of special events held monthly at The Sun. For only £20 customers can have a sentimental wander down memory lane and enjoy two courses of Sue Law’s fabulous home cooked food. The evening starts at 8pm and the cabaret begins at 9pm.
