Hungerford Hare’s ‘harey 8’ fun run

Run for fun with the Hungerford Hares at this year’s ‘Harey 8’ eight mile race on Sunday June 22nd. The run, which covers all sort of ground in the beautiful countryside around Hungerford sets off from Hungerford Rugby Club at 10.00 and, we are told, there is a much sought after pottery mug to be won!

If your legs are up to it, you can enter the race by going to: www.hungerfordhares.co.uk – but entry is limited to 160 runners so it is a good idea to register now.

Every finisher will be presented with a competitor’s medal by Mara Yamauchi, the Great Britain marathon runner.

Youngsters can have a fun run too – there will be a children’s race of about 1k starting at 10.00 on the same day – entries for this will be taken on the day by 9.30am at the Rugby Club. Every entrant gets a medal.

And for those still standing there will be a prize-giving event after the main race, at about 12.00 at the Rugby Cub’s clubhouse followed by a reviving BBQ for the runners and spectators too.

Afternoon tea, Pimm’s for me!
Blandy’s bistro are renowned for their extraordinary afternoon tea. It is a banquet affair with a selection of delicate finger sandwiches, homemade scones with tiptree preserve and clotted cream along with a variety of homemade cakes.

Your library is about so much more than books
Judging from the amount of community activity going in Hungerford Library, the council are going to have a hard time justifying its closure in their next round of swingeing cuts.
