Sponsorship helps Hungerford guest cricketer

Hungerford’s junior cricketers in action during a ‘breakthrough’ season.

Hungerford Cricket Club’s guest player, South African Premier league star Willem Mosert, has coached the town’s junior team to what promises to be its most successful season ever.

Junior team co-ordinator Andy Bell tells Hungerford Townsite: “ This has been a breakthrough year for the Juniors. We are up from 64 to 75 players and have played 14 games for the 1st 11 and 31 games for the 2nd 11. We have the second highest wicket taker in the 2nd 11 and will have had two county players and three district players.”

Hungerford’s cricketing juniors are sponsored by Kerridge Insurance and Andy points out how valuable this support has been: “ Because of the sponsorship we have been able to run teams at all four age groups from U9 to U15 and, most of all, it has subsidised Willem who has provided expert coaching for our juniors as well as being able to coach, free of charge, for the local primary and secondary schools.”

Your library is about so much more than books
Judging from the amount of community activity going in Hungerford Library, the council are going to have a hard time justifying its closure in their next round of swingeing cuts.
