It is a tale of our times and last week it was announced that the latest Post Office to close will be in Martin's newsagents on the High Street when the store's current lease expires on 21st April. A spokeswoman for the Post Office said, 'we will be working hard to retain Post Office services in Hungerford', but nobody has stepped forward yet and with less than three months to go, time is running out. Town Mayor Martin Crane has suggested that the Post Office Licence may be taken up by another retail outlet and that the Co-Op has an empty room in its Queen Anne building on the High Street but no decision has been taken so far.
