James and Magda

James Callery and his wife Magda have been at the Halfway Inn since January 2010. With Magda’s eye for design, colour and detail she has created a beautiful and fitting homely environment in which to enjoy the freshly cooked food from James’s kitchen. Using fresh ingredients, wherever possible locally produced, James pushes the boundaries of his culinary passion in pursuit of individuality and excellence.

Award winning

The Hall and Woodhouse Best Food Pub award acknowledged James and his team’s specialism in combining great flavours to produce traditional dishes with their own distinct interpretation.

The Halfway Inn is a popular and successful restaurant so it is advisable to book early if you want your visit to be at peak times in the latter part of the week. Weekdays the restaurant is as enjoyable as at any other time and the menu and welcome is the same.

The Halfway Inn will soon be opening on Sunday evenings too.

Events and occasions

In the warmer months there is an impressive terrace garden for alfresco dining, events and even weddings. If there is an occasion you would like to mark at the Halfway Inn James, Magda and their team will always work with you to accommodate and create your own exclusive experience – be it a birthday dinner for a few or a wedding celebration for many.

A HUGE thank you to everybody who attended the Hungerford Christmas Fair in the Town Hall at the end of October and helped to make it such a success, pulling in the pounds for some very worthy charities.

Hungerford's premier fashion destination, Luna, is refreshing its boutique in readiness for the Christmas season with an incredible Flash Sale offering 20% off every item in store.

It didn't hold its first Mass until Palm Sunday 2014, but already Hungerford's Arts and Crafts Movement-inspired Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Priory Road has been shortlisted for the 2015 President's Award for New Church Architecture.

It has been said that for a small town, Hungerford really punches above it weight and on no occasion is this more evident that with our annual Literary Festival.

It's that time of year when most of us are eagerly awaiting our summer holidays, even though some of us may not have actually got around to booking anything yet!

One of the town’s most fantastic, unusual and historic venues has been hiding its light under a bushel for too many years, but Hungerford’s Town Hall and Corn Exchange is stepping into the spotlight thanks to local PR woman and Marketing Manager Dani Winslet who has been tasked with launching its renaissance
